You’re more than welcome to try a lesson before you decide! What you will do is register like normal, just to save their spot as classes can fill quickly, but this does not obligate you! If for any reason they don’t enjoy the first lesson, just give us a call to withdraw and you will not be charged!

As a matter of fact, we even tell first time parents that if they wish, they may wait and purchase dance supplies until after they know for sure that this is something their child wants to do. Please send the student in clothing that won’t restrict their movement or flexibility and a pair of tennis shoes.

Anytime! At Miss Kelley’s, all of our classes are live-streamed for you to observe your child at any point!

There are two times during the year that we allow the parents to come into the classroom to watch their child’s dance class in person. Observers are a distraction for some children, therefore this is the only time we permit class viewing.

We do not have a specific dress code at Miss Kelley’s. We do require that students wear appropriate dance wear and shoes in order to be successful in class, but we do not require specific tops, bottoms, leotards, colors, brands, etc. You can check out our social media to see photos of what most students wear!

The only time we require a certain color shoe is when pictures and recital come around. If your shoe color does not match the one required, we do not expect you to buy a new pair. You can simply spray paint them! We sell special shoe paint in the office.

Upon placement, the teacher or secretary will be sure your child has met the appropriate age and skill guidelines for that class. Each child develops at his/her own rate. At a certain point, the number of years the child has taken is not as important as her skill level. At this point, we suggest trusting the teacher. Too often, parents want to place their children in more advanced classes, while forgetting this could be detrimental to their self esteem and confidence. Many times it is like a jigsaw puzzle; you have to try several places before you get the perfect fit. We appreciate you trusting our teachers.

After the age of six, we strongly encourage an additional hour of ballet. Often students want to excel as far as they can in jazz without taking ballet. Of course, each and every class is important and will excel; however ballet is mandatory for those wishing to advance the furthest. The barre work in ballet is where the student’s strength, endurance and balance are developed for leaps, turns, and steps used in many forms of dance. Remember, if you are interested, you will receive a discount on the second class.

Our sprung wood floors act as a shock absorber to the dancer’s body. A dancer should not dance on concrete or other “non-giving” surfaces for any length of time. Doing so might result in injuries to tendons, muscles or joints.

You do not have to participate in the recital, but we strongly suggest that you do. The recital is the showcase of all their hard work all year long. Students not only have fun by participating, but being on stage in front of people truly prepares them for future tryouts, auditions, and interviews. Being in front of people is a genuine fear for many people that can be overcome. Confidence and stage presence is gained only through performing.

No, you would pay tuition only.

The dance year’s tuition is divided equally over nine months; therefore we cannot prorate for any month. However if for any reason you do not receive a full month of lessons you may attend a makeup lesson or attend via live-stream. If you wish to do so, please make up any missed lessons before recital!

No! Just show up to any class within your age range. Makeup lessons do not have to be the exact same kind of class that you missed, only the same age. For example, if your 6 year old missed their ballet class, they are more than welcome to attend a 6-9 hip hop or clogging just for a change of pace or to try something new!

The class will not be rescheduled. However, you are more than welcome to attend a makeup lesson! You may view our class schedule online to find another comparable class in age and level.
