COMPETING SPECIALTY NUMBERS

In the past we have not allowed specialty numbers to compete at the competitions we attend. This was partially due to the fact that competitions would often limit the number of entries per studio. However, now more often than not, they do not restrict the number of acts that can be entered. Therefore we will be allowing specialty numbers to enter the competitions we attend. If interested, please see the rules listed below. Thank you.

  • The student must be 11 years old and have already served three years on the competition teams in order to compete. This rule must be met by all dancers in the routine.

  • A request to enter a specialty number into a competition must be submitted online here by November 30th.

    • There will be a $20 Studio handling fee for registration and music submittal to the competition.

      • This will be added to your account immediately upon registration. Please know there can be no refunds given after registration. Competitions do not refund.

    • The level of competition will be decided by the studio. This decision is based on the competition’s rules for hours of classes per week, level of routine, choreography, competition experience, etc.

    • The competition must allow an unlimited number of entries.

  • Routines must be finished by February 1st.

    • The team teachers must be in agreement that the routine is competition ready and the costume is appropriate. All costumes must be approved through the online form at misskelleys.com/solos.

    • The student must book and pay for two EXTRA lessons during the two weeks prior to the competition.

  • Students must be in good standing with our attendance rules.

  • . The parent and student are responsible for arriving totally ready 2 hours before performance time to check in and warm up.

    • The studio is not responsible for the time assigned to you for your specialty number competition. Please know you may have to miss a day of school. Competitions often put solo entries during school hours.

    • Depending on the time assigned to you by the competition, there may or may not be a teacher present during your performance.
