September Dance News

Welcome to Miss Kelley's School of Dance 40th year! We are so excited to start another year. At Miss Kelley's, you can always find all dates and information on our website. In addition to this, we always send a detailed, monthly email with everything you need to know. You can also follow us on social media for more immediate reminders!

Please read the following newsletter and be sure to read all future emails as well. We will be sending another email to you individually, detailing the class(es) your dancer is registered for. If you would like to make any changes, please give our office a call.

FIRST DAY OF DANCE:

  • We will be closed on Labor Day. The first day of dance will be Tuesday, September 6th!

  • Please join your dancer for the first few minutes of class for a brief first day orientation.

  • The waiting rooms will be crowded the first couple lessons, but this will settle down soon. We encourage you to feel free to run errands while your dancer is in class.

  • Click here to review our class schedule and see which your studio your class is in. At our Trussville studio, studio A and B are downstairs, while studio C and D are located upstairs. You can plan to pick up/drop off your child accordingly. We do have a back door upstairs!

  • Hour long classes will dismiss 5 minutes early (at 25 after), to allow time for transition between classes and alleviate crowding.

    • At our Trussville studio, they are working hard to have our new parking lot open for you on the first day of class. However, if it is not quite ready yet, please pardon our progress. It should be ready soon and we are so excited for you to see it! This is just the first phase in our expansion and will be continued again next summer!

    • Please never block the circular drive at our Trussville studio. This is for drive through only, not parking! We also kindly ask that you refrain from parking at the Nelm's or Nona Ruth's parking lot across the street.

FIRST TIME DANCE MOM?

If you are trying a class for the first time and do not have dance clothes or shoes yet, no worries! We always recommend that first time dance moms wait to buy dance clothes and shoes until after they know for sure this is something you would like to pursue. In the meantime, just send your dancer in tennis shoes and clothes that will not restrict their movement. When you know for sure that your child is loving dance, you may purchase dance shoes and apparel through our office. We have sizing kits to find your little one's perfect shoe size.

  • If you purchase elsewhere, please know that we do not require a certain color or brand of anything! We will announce a certain color of shoe in the fall when costumes are announced, but this is not something you have to worry about until the spring when pictures and recital arrive. Plus, we would never expect you to buy new shoes! We sell special shoe paint!

  • Once shoes are purchased, we highly recommend writing your child's initials on the bottom of their shoes - no matter your dancer's age!

  • More questions? Try exploring our website! We have everything available for you there. Feel free to give us a call as well! We are happy to help!

PAYMENTS:

On your online registration form, you provided routing and account numbers to be drafted for dance payments. You can expect your account to be drafted between the 1st and 5th of each month, with the exception of the month of September. This month only, the draft will run the third week of class. (At the beginning of the year, we like to give everyone plenty of time to get settled into the correct classes).

  • Don't forget - September will also include the $50 registration fee. This is only per family, not per student.

LIVE STREAM ACCESS:

At Miss Kelley's, every class is live-streamed! We love providing this service to parents! Whether sick or on vacation, your child can easily participate from home. Not to mention, you can observe them at any time and see how they progress throughout the year.
